Different Shades of NUDE

The color NUDE has been coming back and hijacking the fashion weeks and the street style blogs with a fiery vengeance after every few years .

AND IT’S BACK AGAIN !!!!!

NUDE color was overlooked earlier because of the monotone and restrictive imagination attached but now it is becoming a worldwide staple.

BUT NUDE is not just a derivative of fair skin colored people. NUDE is as much a part of the brown or black skin colored family .

I being an Indian , am brown or termed to be brown (even though it’s not my skin tone) but For me, nude would be if I wore brown .

To anyone who reads fashion magazines these terms will be familiar – “Nude is a defined color. It’s white nude, not black or brown nude .With someone as powerful and amazing as Michelle Obama, who wore a “sterling-silver sequin, abstract floral, nude strapless gown” described by Naeem Khan , the designer . She wore this gown when she met the Indian Prime Minister good 6-7 years back.  112509-obama-400_1

It isn’t just the description of a color that is potentially offensive here, it’s also the way the color is monopolized by the white skin toned, the entire concept of Nude as a defined color is Racist.

NUDE has different shades and we need to accept it !!!!

Why should a brown or black women be not comfortable with their own skin tone just because fashion industry or for that matter 90% of the world doesn’t think of their skin color as LEGITIMATE NUDE COLOR.

It’s not a fight to get black or brown to be called Nude , but it’s about giving every skin color an equal respect . It’s about 1,000 shades of nudes. Okay, not to complicate – It’s browns, beiges, cream shades and everything in between.

So for a black women wearing the typical Nude shade according to the magazines , it is just a neutral color NOT a NUDE shade.

I think all shades of nude look graceful and elegant.

In actuality, its minimalist look and clean character leaves room for the imagination to flow, making it one of the most versatile color foundations around which to work a look.

LOOK 1 :

IMG_7440Okay I am neither white , brown nor black – kinda mix maybe – but I do love wearing shades of nudes that go well with my own skin tone.

So for this look I wore a hazelnut nude cold shoulder top from KAZO  and apricot nude kitten heals .

In order to break up nude loving , I wore a basic black tube skirt and tied my hair back into a sleek ponytail , to give an edgier look.

I’ve always felt that nude colors create a calming yet classy shade towards anything you wear.

DSC_7839DSC_7869DSC_7833DSC_7974An all nude-cream-beige look, is the definition of understated elegance, OR it can be a very cute boho chic style, depending of course on how you wear it.

I chose a light beige with white shoulders casual short dress . Paired it with similar tone sandals . Beige shades look clean, fresh, refined and quite luxurious.

To add to the ‘classy minimalism’ , I braided my hair onto one side and clipped on huge black bow to it .

To me these colors have a certain grown-up quality to them – Nude is all kinds of shades but all of them bring out a cleansed and a sober inner style quotient of the person rocking it .
